Metamorphosis 2022
Metamorphosis is a workshop weekend to nurture and honor ourselves, as hairdressers. To honor our bodies, our craft, our energy input and output, as well as honoring our hard work and personal finances.
The weekend is hosted by hairdressers for hairdressers.
Met-a-mor-pho-sis :
The process of transformation from an immature form to an adult form in two or more distinct stages.
When engaging with life, we are in a continual process of Transformation. There are events in our lives that highlight the states of ‘before and after’. Metamorphosis: a Workshoping weekend is such an event.
Metamorphosis is a workshop hosted by professional Hairdressers for professional Hairdressers. It will focus on nurturing the relationship between body and spirit to increase the energetic quality needed for our craft. Enhanced self-awareness and recognition of self-worth results in far reaching improvements such as avoidance of burn-out, increased output and improved financial rewards.
Meet our educators
Serena Crawford
Serena is a hairdresser from the mountains of NC who has been behind the chair for over 20 years. Her paths as a woman, mother, hairdresser all also brought her to her yoga mat. Her dueling careers have paralleled beautifully, beginning as a full time hairdresser and part time yoga instructor to now a full time international yoga instructor and part time hairdresser.
As an alignment based yoga instructor with a complete understanding of the physical demands of standing behind the chair, she will lead us in a workshop of self care, moving our bodies and learning tricks to sustain comfort in our careers.

Franky
Coach Franky (she/her/they/them) has been in the industry for almost 15 years and owns a micro salon called I Fucking Love Your Hair in Chicago. Using DTH methods, Franky has completely transformed how she runs her business, raising her prices four times over the last year and a half and growing her Instagram and Tiktok following from zero to 11.4k and 13.4k, respectively.Franky specializes in rebuilding the foundation of your business so you can work less, make more, and finally get to experience true creativity behind the chair. When working with Franky, you can expect an empathic touch with a kick you in the ass accountability.
Cyd Charisse
Cyd Charisse has been in the beauty industry for over 12 years. From behind the chair, management, color education, and more. She is the co-creator of Destroy the Hairdresser.
Cyd is an empowerment coach for salon owners and hairdressers. She teaches owners how to completely transform their business’s inner workings to enhance their profit and career experience.
As a life and career coach Cyd has enhanced the personal lives and paychecks of those she has worked with. Her focus is to help her students build strong brands, empathetic leadership skills and transform their financial future. Her straight forward approach has changed the lives of those she has worked with. Cyd is a blonding specialist in New York City and has completely built her business through social media marketing.
Charlotte Baxter
Charlotte Baxter is the founder of Metamorphosis as well as Shear Shakti. Charlotte and Shear Shakti are hosting. She has been licensed for over 20 years and opened Shear Shakti in 2009. Charlotte’s deep passion for hair, mountains, and body movement have allowed opportunities for her to travel, grow, and learn from some of the most creative leaders in this industry. She believes body movement is a key component in better aligning herself for leadership and effective communication. She also believes nature and beauty completely coexist and draws inspiration for her craft from all aspects of life. Weather that be in architecture, natural landscapes or streets of manhattan. She wanted to host an event for any hairdresser who both value the outdoors, and the importance of self care. For the hairdressers know that knowledge is power and who want to have a better understanding of all parts of their profession, from body awareness to craft to wallet.
Jamie
Jamie has been with Shear Shakti sense 2013. She has been behind the chair for 23 years. Alongside with managing our team and salon she has also completely taken over our wedding business and grown our annual weddings from 7 to 50 per year.
